Local U.S. Open Inspires Grand Contest Winnings at Yardley Inn

us-open-2013The 2013 U.S. Open seems a little more special since it’s happening in our own backyard! Merion Golf Club in Ardmore is hosting this year’s tournament, teeing off on June 10 and running through Father’s Day itself (June 16). Inn keeping with tradition, we’re hosting our Father’s Day U.S. Open Contest once again.

To play, simply guess the winner of the 2013 U.S. Open before noon on Saturday, June 15 to win. All entrants guessing the correct golfer will receive a voucher for a free appetizer off our Tiers of Taste menu, and one lucky winner will win a Porterhouse Steak for Two at the Yardley Inn, valid on Father’s Day itself or any other summer evening with advanced notice.

Entries: To enter our contest, post your selection on our Facebook page, send us a tweet @yardleyinn on Twitter, or post a comment on this blog post!

Merion Golf Club Fun Fact – this year’s U.S. Open golf course actually uses red wicker baskets instead of typical pins (flags) seen at most golf courses. Watch the Open closely and you’ll be sure to notice. These wicker baskets have become something of a tradition shrouded in mystery, as no one really seems to know how the red wicker baskets came to mark the cups. You can read more about it on the Merion Golf Club website.

Join us for Father’s Day dinner and watch the U. S. Open live at the Inn! Featuring the Yardley Inn Steakhouse all weekend and Brunch on Saturday and Sunday, it’s a great time to get out and enjoy a delicious meal and some fun with Dad. We’re providing full U.S. Open coverage from June 10 through June 16 until the winner is determined. We also encourage you to share our contest with your family and friends, as we anticipate multiple winners. (One entry per household, please)

Best of luck!
